Personal Note
Sorry for the silence around here. As you may know, our baby girl was born early--very early--and after 4 months in the hospital, she is now home. So, we suddenly find ourselves going from being daily visitors to the hospital to becoming parents of a BEAUTIFUL baby girl! I'll be posting when possible. Meanwhile, I'll also be writing over at Totally Her (www.totallyher.com) and speaking at the Katy Tea Party (www.katytea.com) this Saturday, July 4.

I did not realize that her baby has been so weak, that she (the baby) had to be in the hospital in intensive care all this time. That must have been a very intense, even frightening experience. I am glad that her daughter is apparently doing much better these days.
I went over to the Totally Her Website, and read the short article written by Lores Rizkalla. Unfortunately, I was not able to write a response there; this computer kept freezing. So I hope she does not mind me responding here to what she wrote there.
Basically, what Lores Rizkalla wrote there, was opening up the issue of what is going on in Japan, that apparently there is such a problem on passenger trains and subways with men groping women, that there are petitions being circulated to force such pubic transportation to seperate the sexes. Lores wondered why women have to suffer in this way, why men cannot control themselves.
Oddly enough, a similar situation is happening in Israel. I am not sure that the men there grope a lot of women, but some men are so religious, that they have started their own bus company, where they have the sexes separated.
I think that such a solution is what makes the most sense to me. Instead of imposing ridiculous laws such as not allowing men and women to ride together, let the free market decide. Those people who just cannot stand riding transportation with the opposite sex, can ride on those privately-run vehicles specializing in such seperation. And those of us who choose the saner, more mature, and way, can ride in such vehicles with both men and women.
