Poor Word Choice Or BAD Judgment?

Advocates of the president's Sotomayor nomination have defended the nominee's 2001 statement that,

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Their argument: it's being spun out of context. Well, Steve Chapman does an excellent job of revealing the context of that statement. And, it's worse!

Sotomayors statement in 2001 is Racist, imagine if a White or even Minority Conservative had made a stayement like that , they would be compared to the KKK, but let any Liberal make a Racist statement ang its Ok , remember FDR appointed KKK member Hugo Black to SCOTUS !

Sorry, but try as I might, I just cannot get myself to be upset with Sonia Sotomayor's allegedly racist comments. I would say, instead, that she has ethnic pride. If all of us were honest with ourselves, I think we would admit that each of us thinks our ethnicity or our gender is superior to any competition.

What would bother me about Sonia Sotomayor, would be if she has a track record of legislating from the bench. I have heard her quoted where she admits as such. It remains to be seen in the coming months the extent to which she engages in this very undemocratic behavior.
