Personal Update

Thank you so much for those who've expressed concern and sent well wishes and prayers our way. I'm thankful to report that things are challenging but good. Our baby came early--very early. So, while I'm back home from the hospital, she has to stay there until she's full term. She is in the best medical hands in the nation and, even more importantly, is in the hands of God. She is doing well for her age. But, she is very small and very young. So, we continue to pray for her to grow and to overcome the hurdles that every premie faces. Doctors and nurses call her "strong" and they call her "feisty," both of which make mommy quite proud.

I should be back to blogging more often now. And, I'll be back live on the air this Sunday on 740AM KTRH after the Astros game (probably about 230pm).  I'm looking forward to getting back in the game.

Thank you for your prayers and your support.

I think the most important thing to do is to do what is right for you. It is not good to feel you should be more committed to blogging just because other people complain. That really should be the last of your worries.
You can only be a good person if you take good care of yourself and surround yourself with good, natural, healthy things and no stress.
What sort of Christians are your parents? Coptics? I have two very big Coptic Crosses. They are truely magical artifacts.

Thank you so much, Robert. My parents were actually in the minority of minorities: Protestant Christians. I have many family members who are Coptic as well. I have been to many a Coptic wedding for family members. Believing and following Christ, either as Copts or as Protestants, in a Muslim country (or in any other country where Christians are persecuted) is not easy and makes me so thankful for the freedoms we have in our country.

Wow, Lores. I'm glad you are ok and best wishes to you and your baby girl and your family. "Fiesty" is a very hopeful descriptor!

My middle neice was in the hospital for a number of months after her birth. My family took turns going to the hospital rocking her and feeding her and talking to her. I returned to the hospital after she was released just to rock the baby's who had no one in the world. It was an experience I will never forget.

Again, I'm glad everything is ok. You are right, there's no better place than Houston to be in this situation.

Take care.

You don't need to 'satisfy' people to get the message through. People either get it or don't.
I know it is hip to 'satisfy' people with giving a good show or getting publicly involved, but that is media prostitution; only the message is important. It is time people stop watching oprah and start getting serious again. People who need oprah or farakhan to tell them what's right are mentally ill.

I went to a Coptic church gathering once but found it very noisy. People were walking in and out all the time and made noise. I would not expect that during a religious event, but there did was a special energy during the ceremony, making it pretty magical.

I will admit that I have met very few Coptic Christians in my life. In fact, I can remember meeting only two: a gas station attendent in the Pico-Robertson area in West Los Angeles, and Lores Rizkalla herself. This is obviously too small of a sample to draw any meaningful impression of such Christians. However, if most of them are anything like Lores Rizkallah, well...their religion comes second only to Judaism! (sorry, I am biased, I admit it).

I agree with what Robert said above. As much as us loyal, adoring fans of the quintessentially adorable Lores Rizkalla love to listen to her radio show, and read her comments on her forum here, there should be no question that her health as well as the health of her baby must come first. The value of human life trumps all, and how much moreso because Lores is such a special lady. Besides, in a purely practical level, how would we even enjoy listening to and reading her thoughts, if she is too weak to present them, or if, G-d forbid, something is not quite right with her precious new baby?

So I throw my support behind the idea of Lores devoting all of her time to restoring her own health as well as the health of her baby, coming back to us only when she is in excellent health.

Spring training will interfere with both your and Berry's talk time. I'm surprised that the Astros are still with 740 and haven't moved to 790 or 610, though that may happen.

Back before you were here Lores, 740 was news, weather and sports. Now it makes time for the Astros, but it's splitting its audience.

I listen for fun, but for sports, I listen to other stations. Your station will just be a political station. The Astros will probably move to another station and then Berry will lose an income stream.

But hey, enoughm with the nuts and bolts. I look forward to your show tomorrow, though I will probably try to call a gun show, so I won't be on you show, unless I catch a break between all the other things I have to do.

Happy to hear that your precious little daughter is receiving the best care possible. Rest up Lores for the big day when she will be in your arms where she belongs.

The prayers for your family are still coming.
