Most Fascinating People of 2008

This week Barbara Walters released her list of the ten most fascinating people of 2008. My list is slightly different....Here it is:

1. Barack Obama. Why? For two reasons...the first seems like stating the obvious. As the first African American man to become President of the United States, he has made history. The other reason is just as fascinating though. How a man could say so much of such little substance and win an election by a landslide is TRULY fascinating!

2. Jeremiah Wright. How a man could spew so much hatred, call himself a CHRISTIAN minister and get away with it is thoroughly fascinating.

3. Jesse Jackson. Is there anyone else on the planet who could get away with using the "N" word in reference to cutting off a particular part of Barack Obama's anatomy and get a PASS from the mainstream media? Fascinating!?!

4. Sarah Palin. Blasted by the Left and by Republicans...yet, when it was crunch time for a hotly contested Senate seat in Georgia it was not John McCain who was asked to campaign but Sarah! She's a name to watch in coming years. She ain't goin' anywhere! Go Sarah!

5. National Organization for Women. They fascinate me every year...for their failure to defend the rights of women in the womb. This year their silence on the treatment of Sarah Palin, especially relative to the treatment of her family and the stereotypes about a woman/mother holding high office. Shame on you, NOW.

6. Islamic Terrorists. How any group can continue to wreck havoc specifically in the name of Islam while simultaneously having the mainstream media insist to call them anything but Islamic terrorists and jihadits. Instead, they get labeled "militants," "gunmen" and even "practitioners." Fascinating is the nice word we're using here.

7. The Majority of Peace-Loving Muslims...for their silence on the issue of Islamic terror. We're told that the terrorists have "hijacked" Islam. But, there is not a word from the Muslim community to protest or to express outrage about how the terrorists do not represent them. Fascinating, another euphemism.

8. Al Franken. For his desperation and now corruption in the attempt to steal the election from Norm Coleman.

9. Steve Carrell. For the brilliant job he does on my favorite show, The Office, of portraying Michael Scott...because we all know and love a Michael Scott in our own lives.

10. Brittney Spears. For how she has managed to maintain such popularity and even success in her career while living an apparently miserable life.

Lores Rizkalla can be sooooo funny! I had to laugh at her extreme attempt to hold back what she really wanted to say about such empty suits like barack oBongo and characters such as Jeremiah Wrong and Jesse Jackson, calling them all Fascinating. LOL!

But speaking of Al Franken, whatever happened in his race against Norm Colman? Perhaps more importantly, why in the world, are people from Minnesota NOT embarrassed that that race came down to the wire? Who in their right mind could possibly vote for such a not-funny, not-talented, pathetic excuse of a man like Al Franken? Frankly, if I were a Minnesotian (is that a word?), I would be embarrassed if more than a handful of nutty people voted for him. Norm Colman should have won by a unanimous vote.

One more thing: By far the most fascinating person in 2008 are none of the people mentioned on Lores' list, but is, rather, Lores Rizkalla herself! I want her to be our next President and Sarah Palin to be our next Vice President. Two beautiful, straight-thinking women running our country! The thought of it is enough to put a smile on my face! :-)

Well, at least number 9 was selected from a positive angle. With all the people in the world, your list of fascinating people seems to be derived from a negative pool. That's sad.

Except that I do not like Steve Carrell at all! (Sorry, Lores). When he was in that movie 40-year-old virgin (which they, um, could have named 47-year old virgin), I was not surprised he was still a virgin, with his negative, bitter, angry attitude. Okay, that is just a role in a movie, but then I saw him on some awards show, in which he was being honored and praised, and again, he had that negative, sour, unappreciative look on his face.
