My wish is that a major conservative player such as Dennis Prager or Fox News would shine a light on the core cause of media bias toward liberalism. Simply do a comprehensive survey on the psychological profile of journalism students. Easy to theorize that the great majority, being idealistic, naive to the real world and ensconced in an insular scholastic envirnoment of liberal professors ... ARE LIBERALS. I was a journalism student. I was a democrat. And I know how they think. The question is, how and why has bias become so blatant to the point of overt propoganda? For the answer, let's go to history class. Great societies rise and fall always. The great tragedy as it is being played out now is that America was supposed to have institutions so brilliantly devised based on a constitution that would protect us from ourselves that it could never happen here. There is a definite oil and water nature to capitalism and democracy. Our government is supposed to navigate those waters. But America has become so successful that corruption is finally sinking the ship. I speak of corruption of the soul as well as greed. American capitalism is no longer tied to a patriotic ethos. And once that went global, America lost it's moral compass. Free enterprise is great as long as it is tethered and we've lost our anchor and have devolved into worshipping materialism and hedonism ... our own government and heads of business steering the ship. So I suppose a majority of Americans are culpable as well. Hope lies in the core principles and values to which America was founded. Too bad we may have to hit rock bottom to right the ship. Sorry. I'm usually more optimistic.

I have a somewhat different take on why our country is sinking. Our country was founded by the Puritans, who wished to return Christianity to its Old Testament roots. In fact, they called themselves Old Testament Christians. Back in the 1600's here in America, the average person on the street talked about the Bible in the same fun, casual way that many of us now talk about the latest in Hollywood gossip. Virtually every Presidential inaugural address has invoked the name of the Biblical G-d, and many of the most famous American speeches, such as Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and so many of Martin Luther King's speeches, were heavily based on excerpts taken from the Bible, and usually its Old Testament aspect.

The change in this country started back in the aftermath of World War II, when soldiers came back from spending many years in Europe. Europe had abandoned the Bible centuries ago, replacing it with secular liberalism, which traces its roots to the French Enlightenment of the 18th century.

So America has now become a battleground between its Judeo-Christian roots, and European, secular liberalism/socialism. Due to the latter controlling our mandatory public schools, people are slowly but surely being brainwashed into rejecting Biblical teachings in favor of atheistic socialism.

Once that transformation is complete, our country is no different from any other European country. And that means being a country of weak ideology, of little ideological conviction, which is exactly the kind of weakness needed so as to enable the islamofascists to establish sharia law in our country. And that will spell the end of America.

I have to say America started declining in the sixties, first GOD was taken out of the classroom, thenthe Great Society under LBJ came in , which made people marry the Government, instead of taking personal responsibility, then you have the schools who indoctrinated Liberalism even back in the sixties, as well as Students rioting on college campuses, and the chancellors not doing a thing about it, and the same people who rioted in colleges are now controlling the colleges and Schools.

Indoctrination today is greater then ever as voter fraud, and people saying that they will riot if Barry does'nt get elected, these are the same people who destryed America , time to bring America back to its principles before 1960. The fifties was the best decade of the 20th Century ,the sixties the worst decade of the 20th Century.

In my above post , I meant to say voter fraud is is as great a threat as indoctrination.

What do newspaper endorcements matter? The Houston Chronicle endorced Obama. If one values the opinions of the editors of a particular paper, then perhaps that would sway that person one way or another.

As for Ronald's criticism of our country, I can't let that stand. While I think that this current administration has done great damage both here and abroad, I think our country is a good one and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else or at any other time.

This is an incredible time for our country. The American dream is about to become that much more possible in the eyes of a good number more of our children. We face difficult times, but with Obama's steady hand, I am confident that it won't be nearly so bad for those most disadvantaged than it has been so far.

Ronald, instead of dwelling on the past, act in the present and look to the future. There is more good in our country than bad, more hope than despair.

You're correct about one thing there is good in this Country, but the Stalinists who run the schools and Universities today are damaging peoples minds , the only change barrack will bring to America is the same change the Communists brought to Russia and Cuba, while its true that there Countries were worse off then ours is today , their new Governments made things worse then they were before , take a History lesson , Government does't work when it gets involved in redistribution of wealth,

Those who Govern the least Govern the BEST.!

Thanks for admitting that this is a good country, Ronald.

The teachers in our country work long hours and take care of this country's children. While not all of them are perfect, by and large they understand that teaching is a calling. Do you understand that you insult your host with your comments? She is a teacher.

Having lived in a former Soviet Republic, I can tell you that not everything about the soviet system was bad. Not everything about America is bad either.

Just because you don't care for the current administration doesn't mean all government is bad.

Just because Ayn Rand and Greenspan were wrong about the economy doesn't mean you should have no say in politics.

I am a Reagan Republican and when did I say that America was a bad Country ?

Personal responsibility is the right courase, the Government has no buisiness in Welfare ,corporate or Family,

As far as you saying that I insult teachers you're totally wrong , only 95 % of the Stanlinists Governtment school Teachers are bad , who will fail you if you don't agree with them, and I never said that the current administration was bad , are you sure you're not Michelle Obama ?

Alan Greenspan and Ayn Rand were wrong about the economy, and Barack hussein osama obama will bring unprecedented prosperity to this country? Wow, Michelle, you live in a very different universe than I do. Socialism has been tried endless times and failed endless times, because it punishes success and rewards failure and non-productivity. Capitalism lets people keep the money they have worked so hard to earn. Wow, this is such a big subject that I feel could write a book about it.

Ron is correct. It is as simple as that. The 1950s were a great time for this country, perhaps even its Golden Age, while the 1960's brought disaster to this country. The 1960's were all about glorifying youth, immaturity, thumbing one's nose at authority and institutions, and not taking personal responsibility for one's life. That era produced some great popular music, but that is about it.

Obama would destroy this country. We now have about eight days left to stop that marxist tyrant from doing so. Please save America by voting for the legendary John McCain and the beautiful Sarah Palin.

This thread of debate beckons the observation that we need a leader who truly can bridge the gap between inflamed partisanship and unite the country. Clearly, Obama's great strength is his oratorical splendor, in such stark contrast to Bush. But hand-holding across the aisle? Reconciling conservative principles? McCain, sadly, is not a great communicator and failed to communicate, with language the moderate left understands, why Obama's policies will fail. More than anything, it was the tone of his attacks, even if what he was saying was mostly accurate. With democrats, who view themselves as the good guys, the fair guys and who falsely view Republicans as the bad guys ... all his criticism of Obama needed to come after praising him. Velvet gloves. I think the far right may be just as responsible for they too do not understand the need for delicate verbal diplomacy -- particularly after Bush. I live in California so I know. It's nearly impossible to shake democrats out of their Bush-hating identification with the Republican party as standing for bull-headed intolerance and always favoring the rich to the detriment of the less fortunate. The Republican party needs someone as articulate as Obama. As persuasive. I voted for Romney in the primary because of this but imagine how the leftist assassins would have attacked his religion. Then there's Gulianni, whom unfortunately the far right and base would have rejected. If this were baseball, it's as if we didn't have a strong right-handed batter to face "a lefty".

McCain is a "lefty" too -- left-handed that is.

The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves for their nominee -- there were no shenanigans from Democrats like the ones pushed by a certain segment of the conservative community during the primaries.

Living in Texas, I can tell you that Republicans here think that the police force, fire department, highway department, military, OSHA and EPA are all things that other dupes should pay for -- not them. But while you Paul seem to be in despair in Cali, things are looking up here in Texas. The counties around Dallas-Ft. Worth went democratic last election and the Houston area, particularly Harris County republicans are looking at a potential sweep -- out of office -- even judges, since they run in partisan races.

May I remind Paul that Moses stuttered? The greatest Jew who ever lived, the man who brought the Jews out of Egyptian bondage and led them to the Promised Land of Israel, stuttered. G-d purposely designed it that way, so that nobody could claim that the Jews were taken in by Moses' charisma, that it was his message that counted.

I know that President Bush and John McCain have not been the best communicators. But so what? Unlike the Obamaniacs, at least we know that those who appreciate the greatness of President Bush and Senator McCain, are not taken in by sweet-sounding but empty words. I would rather have a leader of substance without charisma, then a man like Obama, who is nothing but a slick, snake-oil salesman selling America down the river.

Obama , Stalin = No difference, Obama will make America like Stalin made Russia , disagree with him and it might mean your life.

Stalin the worst of the worst dictators of Russia .

I realize that most people reading what Ronald just wrote here, may think he has gone off the deep end. Well, guess what? He is the sane one, and all those Americans about to vote in Obama as our leader are the ones who have completely lost their minds. America is about to vote itself into a fatal trainwreck. I feel powerless to stop it.
