I Am Woman!

Are we supposed to NOT pay attention to gender and ethnicity or give special attention to gender and ethnicity?

You see, I remember hearing that we were supposed to view people based on their accomplishments and their abilities, regardless of their physical characteristics (whether they be the differences between men and women, culture and/or ethnicity).

But, it was just a couple of weeks ago that the day of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's swearing in turned into a Fem Fest, as we heard all about the Wonders of Woman Pelosi. (If you recall, we heard nothing of the sort when the first Black woman became Secretary of State.)

In any case, we're seeing more of the same as Senator Hillary Clinton declares that it's about time a woman is elected President of the United States. Silly me, I'd simply like a good leader, especially in this time of war and in the face of radical Islamofascists around the world. Senator Clinton's new pink outfits and soft make up is just not enough. And, I hope that Americans are not swayed by the remaking of the Senator from New York.

I have personally experienced the repercussions of government overkill concerning civil rights in this country. I have been job searching lately, and it has become apparent that middle age white males are the very last choice when it comes to selecting qualified candidates for employment now.
If I never understood the plight of the black man in America before civil rights, I do now.

mark's note personally disappoints me, because i, too, am looking for work and i, too, am a middle aged white man. hey, maybe we should both claim to be native americans. after all, i know at least in my case that i was born here in america, thus making me a native-born american! getting back to the subject, though, it is only too clear to me that the ones who judge people by the color of their skin or by their gender are today's liberals, not conservatives. if anything, the free enterprise system is by definition indifferent to such things, which is the way it should be, and we all know that it is the republicans who favor free enterprise while the democrats are socialists

It is never sexist when feminists celebrate a woman in positions of power. It is breaking the glass or marble ceiling or something similar. The candidate for president-person, Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms, oh alright, King Hillary Rodham Clinton, just wants its house back.

to maeJ or anybody else interested in reading this, it is not so much sexist as it is hypocritical for liberals to celebrate nancy pelosi's new position of power as a woman, while completely discounting the position of power as a woman that condalisa rice has. why is it only a victory for women when the woman is a liberal? also, your remark about hillary wanting to take back her house is pretty presumptuous. for one thing, the white house is not the personal property of the clintons. second, the function of the white house is not to be a family home. it is the most important political building in the entire world.

Raymond, check out my comment on "Would YOU elect a woman president"

I agree with you about the feminists ignoring the great accomplishments of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
